Soon, tge orator of the school stands up and doffs his cap. the proceedings come to a climax when the best graduands are called out for recognition and for crowning. Nroma hears his name from where he is sitting and he gloriously stands up. Nroma: ( while walking in his graduation gown, he engages himself in a soliloquy) Oh my God! can this be true? ( he now walks proudly, receiving profound cheers from other graduands. Other Graduands: ( hail him) The prof...!! The Guru!!! ( The cheers die gradually as Nroma steps to a platform to address the audience). Nroma: is given the opportunity to make a speech, He comes to the microphone and retraces his steps. He looks round and sees thousands of graduands and other visitors present; tears of joy roll down his cheeks. He doffs his cap and begins his speech. At the end of his speech, thunderous applauses are heard from every corner of the arena. Many awards are given to him as the best graduand. The programme comes to an end. Journalist: ( Hastening to get Nroma's attention) Can you just mention one experience that helped bring you to this limelight? Nroma: Thank you. I once had a childhood experience with a colony of ants. Journalist: With ants? Nroma: yes, with ants. well, you may be surprised but the experience was real. journalist: ( urges him on) Go on! Tell the world about it! Nroma: The experience was dynamic. i fell asleep one day when i came back from school. As i was lying on the floor, the ants bit me severally on my buttocks, the more i scratch on my buttocks to quell the pain, the worse i received the effect. i requested my sister Ifeoma to take me to the hospital for medical treatment but she made mockery of the whole situation, calling me names: a sook, a cry baby and a coward. I swallowed all the bitter feeling. However, i later understood that the bite of the abts served as an eye opener to the fully developmental stages of life. I closely examined the ants seeing that they were busy gathering their food during the dry season. As soon as the rainy season came, they blocked abd locked their holes, as God lovked the door of Noah's ark of salvation. Afterwards, they stayed underground for months eating what they had gathered over a period of time. journalist: (poses another question to him) Now what have you learnt from that experience? Nroma: Hardwork is the key to success, laziness is a disease that causes poverty. As the bible says, we are to learn the ways of ants. They are like the seconds ticking around the clock. I ultilized my time gainfully that was why i got the best result. When the world was asleep, i wake up to look for my companion: the book. that was how i made it. jounalist: what advice do you have for those coming behind you?. Nroma: ( without wasting time, answers) our Destiny is in our hands; every student should make proper use of their time. Time wasted cannot be regained. journalist: I thank you for granting me an audience. Nroma: I am highly pleased to have you interview me. lights fade. Global House Of Literature
