The rhythm of the music have changed and the dancers has to change their dancing steps. the mouth which cursed before have to now blessed the favoured of God. All association begin to tilt towards Nroma, the literary giant. Everywhere he goes, contact are established; the young and the old, the poor and the rich wish to know him. Each time he talks, his words pierce through the hearts of his listeners and melt them like ice water. Many people who come in contact with him are prompted to ask him for complimentary cards and telephone numbers. Everybody body wishes to wave their hands at him and have a handshake with him at various gatherings. Unexpectedly, Nroma drives his Jeep to his hometown, Umunze to present to his parents. As he drives along the villagers run inside the bush for fear of the unknown. As soon as he arrives his father's compound, many "eyes" came out to see the wonder of the year. Happily, his father and mother come out and hug him soothingly. Okoro: [Embracing him] My son ! My son! Nroma: [Greet his parents and goes straight to the seat brought out by his father to sit] its been a long time! Nneka: [patting him on his back] the pride of his parents, welcome back to your fatherland!. Nroma: I thank you for your warm reception. ( enquies) where is my sister, Ifeoma. Okoro: oh my son! She went to fetch some water. Nroma: From which stream? Nneka: From the one you know- Uzara stream. Nroma: oh my sister still observes some domestic chores? Nneka: why not? she will keep observing them until she finds a good suitor who will take her hands in marriage. Nroma: [Request for permission] May i go in search for her? Okoro: Oh my son, your sister will not miss on her way back home. The uzara stream is just a stone - throw from here. Sit down! (Nneka in agreement with her husband's facial expression, leaves for the kitchen and later serves Nroma with well-prepared dish). Nroma: This food is delicious! Okoro: I thank God that we can now complete our three meals daily. Nneka: God is a miracle-working God. Okoro: Those who trust in him never get disappointed! Nneka: Look at me my son, from penury to luxury. Nroma: That's how nature distributs its wealth. Okoro: [Talks in a dignified abd prestigious manner] Wealth is not meant for one person only. Nroma: [ recalls] I could remember when we were young. Okoro: Oh my son!, don't take my mind back to the past. Each time i remember my past financial status, tears of sorrow start rolling down my cheeks. Nroma: Not to worry, father! the wind of success has started blowing. Okoro: There's one unforgettable experience i had when you were a child, i only disclosed it to your mother. Nroma: Dear Father! i know you want to engage us in a laughing mood. Okoro: When you were a child, i woke up one Early morning at the hearing on my neighbors cock crow to get ready for my usual orange business at igwekala. After praying i set out for the business. The more my legs moved, the more fearful i became. As i was descending the Ndala hills , i saw a well formed image, having the features of a human being. I greates it but there was no response. i stood still to get a clearer view of it. I then made a move to run but it was as if my legs were tied together. i struggled harder and i was able to come out of the wool, by taking to my herls. goose pimples greeted my entire body. it was indeed a horrible experience i cannot forget in a hurry. Nroma: that struggle you made was a liberation from abject poverty to a life of abundance. Nneka: You can now see how we suffered in order to train you up. Nroma: i owe you a million thanks! Thank God my lovely dad did not die in that encounter. if you had died, my academic aspiration would have come to nothing. Okoro: And that gives us the message of timelines too. Nroma: Solomon tells us there is time for everything. Okoro: I set out of Igwekala earlier than expected. Nroma: You were deceived by the cockcrow okoro: yes, indeed. Okoro: that you have arrived, what is your plan towards marriage?. Nroma: Father! [ He laughs and tries to evade the answer but he is constrained to make his stand on it] I will marry when i want. Nneka: [rebukes him] Your marriage should not be delayed. You have acquired many degrees- first, second and third. What else are you waiting for? Okoro: Moreover, you have demonstrated your love for us by building a very magnificent house. wouldn't you like us to carry out grandchildren? Nneka: Ask him! truly bukury without any manly responsibility is in vain. Okoro: [ Adds to what has been said] it is like a grown up lady who has acquired the whole world with degrees and property, but without a man controlling her as her husband, she amounts to nothing. Nroma: (nods his head severally in agreement) surely i will not disappoint you. Okoro[ rejoices exceedingly] Now my life is at peace. Before i breath my last, i shall have set my eyes on my grandchildren. Nroma: i promise, by this timr next year, i shall have taken my fiancee to the alter. Nneka : where both of you will walk down the isle to say " i do! i do! Nroma: And i shall have you abd mom stay by my side to approve of our union. Okoro and Nneka: May we all be alive to witness such a day. Nroma: Amen!. lights fade.
